Online Craft Groups

I love being in touch with others who share my crafting hobbies and skills. I don’t have the time to join or start a circle of friends to meet a specific day a month and work on projects together. But if you are reading this, then you, like I, have a computer and access to lots of online groups that are fun to join.

The one I joined in January was responsible for this Blog, in a way. Lots of the members had blogs and as I visited each one, I saw things I’d like to do for one of my own. We all share news of our projects, ask and answer questions, and even have “exchanges.” These are swaps. An exchange invitation is posted for projects such as doilies or potholders or afghan squares, and if I’m interested, I sign up for that month. I receive the name and address of my partner. I receive a completed project in that category from my partner and I send one to my partner. It is so much fun to see someone else’s work arrive in the mail and to make new friends who share interests. We have almost 3,000 members at Atmyhouse (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Atmyhouse). I’ve set up a link for them on my list. It is free to register and post to the message board.

Crochet and knit is only part of the craft scene online. Check out the many different Yahoo groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/) and click on Hobbies and Crafts. You’ll find everything from pottery, candles, quilting, needlework, woodworking, and much more. You can join a big group or a little group. Maybe I’ll see you online one of these days.

Dear Lord, thank you for the companionship of my online group, Atmyhouse.
