I suppose it’s normal for handcrafters to keep a stash of ready-to-go gifts on hand. At least it is for me. And, if I remember correctly, my dear mother always had something on hand - potholders, slippers, scarves, even afghans. Me, I’m more inclined to have a stash of small items. They are easier to replenish when my stock gets low.
Making them, especially the small stuff, isn’t that hard. Even with a tight schedule, a small project is easy to fit in. Of course, larger ones are, too, if they are made in pieces. Trouble is, I hate, I truly hate, to join pieces. If there is a way for me to make something all-in-one, without joining at all, I’ll use that pattern every time. Time itself isn’t all that difficult.
It’s the funds for supplies that sometimes get tricky. I’ve been blessed more often than not. When my dear momma passed away in ’94, she had several cartons of yarn and threads that came to me. I’m still working some of those skeins or balls. It gives me a warm feeling, knowing she touched them at one time. I’m a “sale” shopper when it comes to supplies. Rarely will I buy when it is full-price.
I’m not sure where I was going with this post, but it was fun looking into my heart and head, and seeing what was in there regarding my gift stash.
Lord, thank you for the fun I’ve had making things for others and for blessing me with the supplies I’ve needed.
