2008 Crochet Games of Ancient Greece

If you crochet, you might want to check this out. If you do not, but you know someone who does, pass the word. This is a great way to have fun and also challenge yourself. It is sponsored by Crochetville and the link to the rules and regulations is in my Links-A-Lot list on the side of the main page of this Blog.

This is a great idea. The games start August 8th and end August 24th. They are timed to run with the Olympics in Beijing. You choose a crochet project that will challenge you. You cannot start it before August 8th but you can assemble supplies, do a test swatch, and otherwise go into “training.” In fact, the Forum has a “training” site. It is fun.

Some folks are picking projects that challenge them time-wise, others are choosing intricate patterns, some are trying a stitch or technique or yarn or thread that is new to them, and others just want to stop procrastinating. It’s all up to the individual, and it’s all on the honor system. Check the posts on the Forum and you’ll get a good idea. You will need to register (free) at Crochetville to join in.

There are even medals and a few prizes, but mostly what you win is the feeling of completion and satisfaction when you complete your own project. You also enjoy the companionship of others who share your interests. Maybe I’ll see you at the games!

Help me choose, Dear Father, an enjoyable and worthwhile project for this event.
