I also love freebies and deals. There used to be a
casino/grill a few blocks from our senior mobile home community where we’d all
go on our birthdays for a free meal. They have torn it down.
Two days ago, a neighbor surprised me, though, with the best
birthday cake I’ve ever had.
When I was growing up, I really hated my own birthday. I was
the big sister, and I had more fun planning things for my little sister and
brother. All my life, I’ve been like that. I’m uncomfortable with a lot of
personal public attention. But I’ve always loved birthday cakes, no matter
whose they are.
This neighbor is not the type who normally does things like
this. I got a big kick out of how he did it. He told me that he was going to
bake me a cake and then he remembered that he didn’t bake. So he “got” me a cake.
What was it?
It was - is - Dilemma Trader Joe’s cheesecake sampler!!! I
got 8 glorious slices - 2 each of 4 flavors, 3 of them chocolate variations.
How great is that???
It is appropriately named - the dilemma arises in choosing
which flavor to dive into. I am being a very good girl. I immediately re-packed
all but one slice. I had that slice yesterday - Sunday. I will have one slice
every Sunday afterwards. What a treat to look forward to.
Yep, the very best-est birthday cake EVER!
Tomorrow, I’ll share with you some fast food places where I got some great birthday treats and deals, to sweeten the pot even more...all you need to do is join their little email clubs.
