Your Prayers Were Powerful- Thank you!

I went to bed last night in a state of confusion and concern. When I woke up, my path seemed very clear. I had asked for prayers so I would know what to do about my current situation. Your prayers were powerful. Thank you.

Part of the answer involved a decision I had been toying with for a couple of months. A friend of a friend emailed me yesterday saying almost exactly what I had been thinking. It helped me make my final choices.

Here’s what I am going to do. I am not going to pay the phone bill installment on Thursday. That will, however, cause them to cut off both the TV and the Internet service. I will set an “away” notice on both my Etsy shop and my email account for about a week. I need to find a low cost internet solution. I’m toying with DSL with NetZero. Eventually, they will begin collection action, but I'll deal with that later.

Not paying this should not cut off my land line local service - I think that if you are over 60, they have to give you a little time, hopefully until my SSA comes in next week.

Not paying that means I will also not need to pay the additional installment and current bundled package later this month. That saves me almost half of what I need to cover monthly expenses. That knowledge and decision in itself is a small miracle.

The TV is not easy to deal with. My TV’s are the old ones, not digital. I do not have the funds right now to get converter boxes. I will get them one at a time whenever I can afford it. I do have VCR built-in for the bedroom set and I have a lot of VHS tapes. When I finally get TV again, I do not mind just the basic free service. I grew up in a world without TV - just radio. I do have two plug-in radios in here and will un-earth them tomorrow.

Yes, I know a TV is not a necessity. But when you are older and have some days when the bones are brutally attacking you, sometimes it is really a blessing to sit and relax in front of the boob tube.

So, this one action will help me with half the monthly troubles. Next, I will call the car insurance and do something I keep forgetting to do. This time I wrote it down. I need to go from full coverage, which we had while paying off the old car, down to just liability. That saves me about $30 a month. I’ll cut off the newspaper, another $13 a month. And there was something else I planned to do, and I have it written down somewhere, that will also help.

So, my friends, I must thank you with all my heart for your prayers, and thank that “friend of a friend” whose suggestion yesterday solidified a decision I was hesitating to make.

God bless you all.

This won’t be easy; it won’t be fun. But it just might work.
