What I’m Doing to Get Out of This Hole

I’m trying very hard to cover any available base for extra income right now. I am terrified that I will lose my home. Not to mention, not have food for the kitty or gas for the car.

Tomorrow, early, I’ll be at the Food Stamp office when they open their doors. I am certain I will not qualify. However, I would feel worse if I just assume that and then, a few months from now, found out that I wasted a few months of benefits by not applying sooner. Better to just go and find out. If I do qualify, I doubt I’ll get more than $16 - that seems to be the current amount for folks my age.

Meanwhile, I ran over to Craigslist today and sent emails and resumes for two part-time jobs. I have no idea how much I can handle these days, approaching 75 in September. I’m trying to stick to 20 hour
opportunities. I also seriously doubt anyone will hire someone my age. But I am, except for my knee and one leg, reasonably alert and active. It will be interesting to see if, over the next few weeks, I actually get any interviews. I will only apply for light office work - for me that will be very easy work. But I am overqualified.
Still, it doesn’t cost me to send the email and resume - no gas money for the car, no running around.

I now have 5 chemo-turbans finished and ready for photos for my shop. I had hoped to take those today but I was side-tracked. Hopefully tomorrow - then I’ll see if there is any interest.

I might even try a few at local hospital gift shops. That has to wait until next week for my SSA, for gas money for the car. Mine is the 2nd Wednesday. That’s not too bad - some of my friends must wait until the last week of the month. That’s very inconvenient for them.

I hope to post a note on our community bulletin boards with a few more things from the house that I hope to sell for small amounts. I haven’t anything that’s considered big-ticket, unfortunately.

So, I’m tossing lines into the water, hoping to get a bite.

A few prayers from friends would be greatly appreciated!
