What Happened to My Pinto Bean Freckles?



Saturday night, I pre-soaked a bag of pinto beans. Sunday morning, when I drained them, they had lost their freckles. That really, really disappointed me.

By now, you must have guessed that I have never, in my 74 years on this earth, cooked pinto beans from scratch.
 
I am crushed. Most of their appeal, to me, were their freckles. Sheesh. I might just as well have used canned kidney beans, whose taste I much prefer.
