The first time, I used it to grind some pre-packed shelled
almonds that were too rock-hard to bite. It was my first time with this
machine. I read the instructions but processed just a bit too long. I’ve been
happily using up my Almond-Dust in anything and everything.
Today, I tossed a bunch of stuff in it and I am in love. I
called a friend who makes smoothies all the time. I told her what I had in the
fridge and in the closet, and asked which things would work for a smoothie or a
mushy treat to freeze in portions. She said everything I mentioned except
perhaps the celery because of the strings.
So, I tossed in 2 very, very, VERY mushy bananas, 3
rinsed/scrubbed raw carrots (cut into 1 inch pieces), a can of crushed
pineapple with the juice, 1/4 or possibly 1/2 cup skim milk, and a single
serving cup of low-fat cherry yogurt. Oh my heavens - this is totally
delicious.
I did the carrots first, until they were mush. Then I tossed
in the rest.
I poured part of it into 4 single serving cups with lids,
and froze them immediately. I poured half of the rest into a recycled plastic
mayo jar and tossed that into the freezer. I poured the rest into another
recycled plastic mayo jar and put that into the fridge.
Every time I open the fridge to re-fill my water glass or
fix a bite/meal, I end up opening the jar and taking a spoonful or two.
Now I’m looking forward to adding to the mix with various
other veggies. Can’t wait.
Thanks, Mom! You always did buy the best for the kitchen work, and this blender works beautifully 20 years after it was last packed away, and I know you used it a lot when you were alive. It says a lot for the product.
