Kind Words from Friend About Prayers Answered

Back on June 12, in this post link, we asked for prayers for a friend's cousin Tommy. Today I received this in an email, thanking us for the prayers, but even more kind is the way she thinks of those who sent up prayers for him...

"My cousin Diane thanked us for the prayers for her brother, Tom.  He is doing much better and is now eating more.  She said she thinks we have a direct line to God.  Our little prayer group is really helping."

Sweet Lord Jesus, thank you for hearing the prayers of those for Tommy. Many of those who prayed have worries of their own but took a moment to care about someone they didn't even know. Please bless those who pray for others in whatever ways they need most. We realize not all our prayers can be answered but we thank you for those which were. We trust in you.

URGENT Prayer Request for Child

A dear friend just asked for urgent prayers for her grandchild... She asks for her 8 month old great grandson. He was flown to a city near them in a helicopter. They don't have any baby doctors where they live. The ER doctor thinks he is getting seizures.

We all know how much Jesus loved the little children so we hope and pray he will hear our prayers for this little one...

Sweet Lord Jesus, we offer this little one to you care. Please shower your blessings, compassion, healing and the correct diagnosis to enable them to treat whatever is wrong. Please comfort the family and loved ones along the way as they wait in fear but also in hope for your help. We trust in you.

Prayer Request for Friend's Cousin Tommy

A friend's cousin is having multiple medical issues, all piling up on him one after another. Here is what family has said:

"Heart surgery was finally scheduled for May 15. It was a complete bypass and they actually removed his heart and put him on a bypass machine. They had to remove an entire valve and use a vein from his leg.  That valve also had an aneurysm so it was a good thing it was removed.  The heart surgery was a success BUT, he was having bladder issues.  He is now diagnosed with bladder and kidney cancer.  Kidney surgery will be sometime in late August or September.  Now they also found a tumor on his lung...that is scheduled for July 24.  He is trying so hard but he has no appetite and although his heart is doing so much better, other areas aren't.  He weighs 122 lbs.  He has little energy and says he can't eat, so he drinks water and eats very little. Please ask your prayer group to please pray for him.  I have him on prayer chains all over.  He just turned 74 on June 3."

I'll be praying not only for healing and a great medical team but comfort for the family as they all suffer watching him suffer. It's always so sad when things pile up, one after another... please say a wee prayer for this man and his family and loved ones.

Sweet Lord Jesus, this is a tough one. Looks like we need a miracle here and we know you are our healer. We ask for not only good medical advice and surgeries, but also peace and patience and anything that is needed by this family and this man to help them through this troubling time. Jesus, we trust in you!

Update on Prayer Request for Friend's Aunt

Back on 5/31 (at this link), I asked for prayers for a friend whose aunt was in ICU because her COPD and related issues were even causing weeping from openings on her leg.

I'm so happy to share with you that her aunt is not only out of ICU, but back at her home with some family folks who flew in to help with her recuperation.

We don't always get feedback about our prayers so it's always heartwarming when we do hear of good outcomes. My friend is very grateful for the prayers.

Sweet Lord Jesus, once again, we come to thank you for hearing our prayers for someone in need. Thank you for your healing and for help for this woman while she is recuperating. And please bless all those who sent prayers her way and bless them abundantly. We trust in you.

Next Up, Louise's C19-Lockdown Projects

Yesterday I posted the projects I finished during our Charity Crafters' Covid19 lockdown (link for that here). Today, here's a photo of what our long-time member, Louise, finished along the way. It includes 9 pairs of our fingerless gloves for the homeless, 1 scarf for them, 1 lapghan for the VA, 2 baby blankets and 4 baby jackets for local needy moms/babies.

We stick to simpler patterns for the most part because a lot of people in need do not have access to hand-washing fancy/delicate things, and some, like the VA, wash the lap covers in industrial washers which are tough on items, and some young needy mothers need things that are easy to put on and take off.

Tomorrow I'll do the scarves that came in during the C19 lockdown. After that, I will take all this stuff in the 3 days of pix and pack and document and shove big white 13-gallon bags into my double wide closet in the back bedroom until we distribute to one of the 3 places we give things (VA facility, two priests who hand out directly to homeless, and a group that distributes to mothers in need).

Charity Crafters Meeting Once Again!

Such a happy Friday morning! Our first "meet" since this pandemic started. Well, actually, Louise and I haven't shared a Friday morning since our last one back on 2/21/20. Then she left on a cruise, and then the cruise was messed up as they tried to dodge the pandemic bullet, and I'm so happy she did, but it was a long time before we could do this again. Let's see - she was here 2/21, then our Park closed our Clubhouse on 3/16.

It re-opened a week ago but I didn't know it so yesterday was our first re-meet - she brought me all the things she worked on, and I let her know what I had finished, and we caught up and were VERY glad to be doing it again. Along the way, our two main "invisible" members were working as well - the one who is on dialysis is still making loom-knitted hats and the one near our Clubhouse is bringing crocheted scarves every week or 10 days - she's brought almost 4 dozen since the pandemic hit.

So, at the moment, to begin to catch us up on this blog, the photo here is what I finished between 2/21 and yesterday: 6 hats and 5 lapghans for the VA...

I'll be sharing Louise's stash in a day or so after I count and take pix of hers. She did a lot more than I did - wait until you see. And then I'll do the scarves another day.

Later this week I'll be packing as much as I can for the closet stash before our hot weather hits the back part of the house again. This week we are blessed with under-triple digits. For June in Vegas, that is a treat -

I also need to update everyone on my Christmas Tote activities - although I'm thinking of just calling it my "gift stash" because I've already removed 2 or 3 things for sudden impulse giving.

Prayer Request for Friend's Aunt

A dear friend is very worried about her aunt. The aunt has long suffered from COPD and heart issues and recently her lungs filled up to the point she was leaking from openings on her legs. She is currently in ICU but additionally, per protocol, they did a C19 test on her and everyone is holding their breath until Thursday. Praying with all our hearts that it is negative. I don't think she is feverish which gives us hope.

Thing is, she was at a medical specialist's office about a week or so ago, so we are all concerned. She was in that office, her family interacted with her, I've interacted with them, but it was a week ago...

Thank you, our prayer angels, for all the times, like this, when you pray for others in spite of your own issues. You are all in my heart and prayers.

Sweet Lord Jesus, you lived at a time when disease was rampant and vaccines were not heard of. You are our healer and we ask your compassion and mercy and a great medical team and a negative test result while they are also working on getting her lungs healed to a safe level. We trust in you!

More Prayers Answered on Neighbor's Broken Leg

Back on April 20th (link here) and again on May 16th (here), I talked about the neighbor who goes to MI each summer and broke her leg her first few days there in mid-April. Along the way, I have been worrying because of lack of feedback from her and/or her husband that perhaps something worse was going on. I feared that along their travel from NV to MI, she might have contracted C19.

Today I did finally get an in-depth email from her. For some odd reason, I had completely overlooked the fact that she had broken her femur, the upper leg bone, the one in the thigh. To me, it is far more difficult to adjust to post-surgery for that than for the lower leg bone. Add to that her age, 70, and her sciatica issues. She is staying at her son's, 25 mi from the RV park her hubby manages in the summer, and is having home therapy 4 days per week.
She is trying to learn to walk again, using a walker and beginning to learn to use a cane. It is still painful deep inside her leg where the broken bone is pinned together. She has a primary care doc appt. on Thu. and is hoping for some pain meds.

She hopes to go back to her hubby and their RV this coming weekend. He drives several days a week back and forth after his work day and on weekends. She also misses their 2 fur babies.

For now, I thank you all so much for your prayers. I feel much relieved. I am sorry for her pain but at least it's not fatal as C19 could have been.

Sweet Lord Jesus, thank you so much for your compassion and mercy in watching over this woman, her husband, and the fur babies. Please continue to hold them in your heart and help her to heal more quickly than we might expect and bless her with a doctor who understands her age and condition and her pain level. We trust in you.

Prayers Answered on Neighbor's Broken Leg & Other Issues

Back on April 20, 2020, at this link, I updated on a prayer request from the week before about a neighbor who summers in another state and got there and broke her leg within 2 days of arriving.

I've had a hard time getting feedback. Her hubby works there in the summer, managing the RV park and is very busy plus while she is laid up, he's caring for the 2 cats, and traveling miles to try to see her which of course wasn't allowed.

Long story short: I heard from HER today via email. She's out of the hospital, surgery staples are out, and she is temporarily staying at her son's home which is about 25 miles from the RV park. I suspect that because of her sciatica, she's at risk in the tiny RV until she is stable on that leg. But for me, the good news was that she IS out of the hospital, that she will go home to him and the fur babies as soon as able.

I wanted to thank each of you who sent up prayers along the way. You are each in my own heart and prayers because I know so many of you have issues of your own to deal with.

Sweet Lord Jesus, thank you from the bottom of my heart that my neighbor is out of the hospital. Thank you for your compassion and healing and mercy. We trust in you.

Prayer for Help for Someone to Find a Suitable Home

A friend's daughter needs to find new living quarters. She is in a situation where she truly needs to find a place. She says it needn't be a palace, that if it has a good roof, septic, water, electric she feels she can fix the rest.

I have had other friends with housing problems, too, in the past, and it is a worrisome situation when it happens. Prayers would be appreciated so she makes a wise decision.

Sweet Lord Jesus, you and the Holy Family know what it's like to need to uproot ourselves from one home and go to another. Your family did it at your birth when they had to go to Egypt. In your compassion and mercy, please guide this woman and help her find the right place, one that she can afford and that she can feel worth the effort of fixing up if need be. We trust in you.

Silkie's Progress - The Good, the Bad, etc.

Well, as I expected, there was no way I could get pain meds into her today again. So, I brought her home yesterday morning. She did eat some wet kibble last night before bed, but she ate nothing all day today, even though she made several trips to the dishes. But, wonder of wonders, at 7:30 tonight, she did eat the wet kibble!

I had tried drizzling the pain liquid into one of the dishes this morning but she totally dissed that one.

Called the Vet and they said it's okay to take her in tomorrow when they open (at 8 am) and they'll give her the meds, then I can take her about an hour before they close, for the second dose. The doses are supposed to be 12 hours apart so that second trip might not work and I might have to wait until Monday morning early. Either way, even if I get one good dose a day into her, at least she won't be suffering so much. She paws at her mouth, twists her face as though she's trying to get something off her teeth but when I mentioned that on the phone, they didn't seem to think that was an issue. I guess it's like us - take out a tooth and Bingo! Where does our tongue immediately go? Right - to the empty space!

Her spirits are reasonably good. She's enjoying me brushing her far more often than normal. She enjoyed a 1/2 hour out on the front porch this evening.

It won't be hard for me to pick her up tomorrow morning. And THIS time, I won't try to carry the carrier with her in it, down the back stairs. I'll have it on a stool at the bottom of the steps, opened, and I think I'll just hold her tightly as I go down the steps... now that she's lost those 6 lbs., it makes a difference carrying her in my arms.

So, we shall see - I'll feel better anyhow having them take a look into her mouth to make sure it's okay after those 3 canine extractions...

Prayer Request for Friend's Husband

Several of my friends are dealing with medical issues concerning their spouses. This one is the latest. He had been in the hospital and is now out. Here's what she says about current situation:

"He's doing a little better. He's out of the hospital but has to go get antibiotic infusions everyday for 14 days cuz he didn't want to stay in hospital. Yesterday he had to go for a colonoscopy and today he's feeling weak. Say a prayer that the polyps they removed aren't cancerous. He has a bacterial infection and they can't find where it's coming from. Also he has to go see a urologist too."

Lots going on with this man who I love as much as I love his wife and have for years and years... Prayers much appreciated.

And thank you, each of you, for your prayers along the way when I post these requests. Most of you who pray for others are dealing with your own issues as well. You are always in my own heart and prayers!

Sweet Lord Jesus, you know the heart and goodness of this man. Please send your healing and compassionate help his way, in whichever way it is needed. We trust in you!

Update on Earlier Prayer Request

Back on April 24, I asked for prayers for a friend's son with foot troubles (see link here). Happy to say he is responding well to the antibiotics given him. Wound is no longer leaking, no more throbbing... moving along. My prayers will continue until fully healed... thank you, each of you, for caring and saying a wee prayer along the way.

Sweet Lord Jesus, thank you for hearing our prayers and helping him. You heal the sick and you bless us in your compassion. We trust in you.

Projects on To-Do List, Christmas Tote

In addition to the charity crafting, I've got a little To-Do crafts project list always in the works, plus that Christmas Tote I began this year.

On the To-Do list, I promised some special bookmarks for a friend soon as the supplies arrive, and promised a special apron for another friend soon as those supplies arrive, and a special ripple couch afghan for another friend (those supplies are already here)...

The Christmas Tote has some things in it, by the way, but I need to get back onto that - it took a back seat for a while. Time to get going, gently, on it, again.

The good thing about crafting, no matter what type you do, is that you can move from one project to another as you wish, depending on your mood, your available time, and other things... I love that...

Update on Silkie

I don't think any of you realize how frightened I was this morning to take her to the Vet - I had asked for prayers day before yesterday but I don't think anyone saw that post. It's really hard for me to carry a dead-weight cat in a carrier while I'm trying to walk down 4 steps, 2 feet at a time on each step, while also holding onto the railing, cat screaming in fright and moving around in the carrier. I was so scared that I'd fall, maybe onto the carrier, hurting us both. Somehow, I got down, totally out of breath for a while from the fear and the strain on my knees and legs and the weight and the stress.

But she's there - I'll bring her home tomorrow. She has a severe skin infection, dermatitis, all around her nether regions. They shaved her, applied ointment, gave her an antibiotic shot that will last for 2 weeks. Her weight was finally down from 22 lbs. last July to 16 now, so they were able to also extract those 3 broken canines and left a bottom one which is healthy - apparently the tops help shape the mouth and the bottoms help control the tongue and other things. She'll need pain meds by eye dropper in mouth (that will be fun!) when she comes home. They found a small stone in the bladder so tomorrow I'll make sure to ask if I need to have that checked and how often. They did her nails. The stimulus funds covered it all, thank heaven...

I spent two hours vacuuming her two litter areas, sweeping the pantry, kitchen, back bath, dumping old litter boxes and filling new ones, shaking out her fave rag/scatter rugs, washed all her dishes. Should do more but I'm beat for a while. I hope to pick her up between 8 and 9 tomorrow.
